Klipsend is a screen recorder for Mac. Recording happens locally on your machine; the cloud features (sharing a recording as a link, viewer counts, comments) are optional. This policy describes exactly what we collect and why, drawn from how the product actually works.
To use cloud sharing you sign in with Google. We request identity scopes only — openid, email, and profile — which give us your email address, name, and profile picture. We use these to identify your account and to show your name and avatar. We do not request or receive access to your Google Drive, your files, your contacts, or anything else in your Google account.
Recording and export happen entirely on your Mac. A recording only leaves your machine when you choose to share it. At that point the file is uploaded to our storage on Cloudflare R2 and served from our media domain so people with the link can watch it. You can delete a shared recording at any time from your dashboard; deleting it removes the cloud copy and purges cached copies from the content-delivery network, so the public link stops working.
When someone watches a shared video we count the view without tracking the person. We never store raw IP addresses. Instead we compute a salted SHA-256 hash of the viewer's IP address and browser user-agent, combined with a secret salt and the current date. The date component means the hash rotates every day, so the same viewer can't be followed over time. We use it only to avoid counting the same viewer repeatedly within an hour.
If a viewer leaves a reaction or a comment on a shared video, we store it — the comment text, the display name entered, and a timestamp. Comments can be posted without an account. Don't post anything in a comment you wouldn't want the video's owner and other viewers to see.
Klipsend Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Polar as our merchant of record. When you buy Pro, Polar processes the payment and sends us confirmation and a license — we never see or store your card details. Polar's own privacy terms govern the checkout. We store your Polar customer and order identifiers so we can link your purchase to your account and honor refunds.
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a short-lived cookie to protect the sign-in flow itself. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
You can delete any shared recording from your dashboard at any time. To delete your account and associated data, email privacy@klipsend.com and we'll take care of it.
If this policy changes materially we'll update the date above. Questions about privacy? Email privacy@klipsend.com.
